Hank Reinhardt's Book of Knives: A Practical and Illustrated Guide to Knife Fighting When most Woods Monkey readers use knives it’s for the relatively 'tame' stuff: survival, sports, camping, bushcraft, etc. Much like other tools (the best ones anyway) knives can be used for many things. Some of those things are not so tame. Knife fighting conjures many images and feelings when mentioned amongst fans of knives in general.  It can be misinterpreted and misrepresented but it is always there. Since ancient man used a flint knife to survive a fight to the death these less...glamorous aspects have walked like a shadow lurking down through history.

Bad Blood RazorHoof I’m a practical person by nature, and some might consider me a tough critic.  There are very few items that I own where the look of the thing won me over as opposed to the function of the piece.  From tools, to guns, to cars, I’m ‘that guy’ who will pour over the internet reading reviews and observations before laying down any money what so ever.  So it came as quite a shock to me that the primary thought going through my head when I first laid eyes on the Razorhoof from Bad Blood Knives was ‘damn, that look is way bad ass – gotta have it!”. It never fails, just when I think I have all my outdoor gear needs covered Mother Nature comes along and proves me wrong.My leather wallet was soaked. It was the last day of my oldest son’s Webelo Scout Campout and it had been raining hard since two in the morning. Adding to the fun, the other Scout leader had forgotten to wake me when the gear trailer came by our campsite.

With all the choices available my thought of finding a suitable woods or camp gun became a daunting task.  I wasn't looking for ultimate stopping power or tactical flash. My criteria was pretty simple; versatile, inexpensive fun, and reasonable weight.  Wondering through the SHOT 2012 show I found what I was looking for. The Beretta Neos U22 pistol!

I have a love/hate relationship with hollow handle knives. As a teenager I saw “First Blood” and wanted the knife from that movie more than anything. Of course my only income at the time was a weekly allowance and the occasional job mowing a neighbor’s lawn. A custom knife from Jimmy Lile was not going to happen. So instead I bought some cheap hollow handle knife. The compass on the pommel cap looked like it should be on a car dashboard. The handle was not waterproof and the stuff in there got wet. The final straw came when I had a piece of the blade break off using the bottle opener. But that was many years ago so I figured it was time to give them another shot.
