Rothco Vintage Messenger Bag

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

Today I'm reviewing the Rothco Vintage Messenger Bag. The first thing I noticed about it was that it was something that had multiple uses.  It's called a Messenger Bag and it certainly fits the bill there with its wide, comfortable and sturdy shoulder strap and flap style closure.  It also has uses that include day trip bag, school bag, airplane carry on, and even daddy diaper bag.  Yes, you read that right.  I'm sure it isn't something most Monkey's might think about, but let’s face it, we're at the age where we are  having kids and we either a) give up our outdoor hobbies or 2)   find a way to include the munchkins, keep them safe and  haul all the necessary gear about for you and them.  The Rothco Messenger Bag fits that need as well.

Drago Gear Tracker Backpack Review

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

The 'three day assault pack'. It’s a buzz word/term for a short duration light pack that is a little more than a basic bag, but not so bulky to impede any rapid movement by its wearer. Everyone has heard of the term.

The new Scout Backpack by Drago Gear made this hunting season one to remember. Although I didn't get my buck this year, the usual hassle of trekking in, setting up and fishing out my gear was a breeze with the sleek, spacious and segmented Drago Scout.

Drago Gear 36” Single Gun Case

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

The term “Gun Case” when I was a kid was a simple thing. A soft sleeve usually leather with a fleece or woolen liner. It didn’t matter if I was grabbing a shotgun to sneak a few shots at doves, heading to the woods with a slug gun for whitetail, or just taking the 22 out for target shooting. On sleeve fit every gun we had. Not the case these days. What with the advent of more tactical weapons being owned by the average Joe, one can find anything from a Pelican case to old style gun sleeve and anything in between. Most popular amongst them it seems is the weapons bag.

Duluth Bushcrafter Pack Review

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

For as long as I can remember, Duluth Packs have been synonymous with canoe camping. Canoe packs require different features than a day pack or multi-day pack and Duluth has always been king. They have been famous for their durability and their classic look. They were always the benchmark that everything else was always measured up against. If you haven’t been paying attention to them, they are also making lots of other cool packs. Today, I will be reviewing the Duluth Bushcrafter Pack.

In my outdoor travels I’ve always used cavernous backpacks. Be it a canvas canoe pack, extended trip modern internal frame packs, or my well traveled large A.L.I.C.E. pack, the ability to transport large loads has always been a feature I’ve wanted in my packs. That is until I learned that bigger is not always better. Enter the Drago Gear Spec Combat Backpack.

Briggs & Riley: BRX Explore 22 in Upright Carry-On Luggage

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

This light-weight, durable carry-on luggage is built for the traveling road-warrior. I tested the BRX Explore 22 in. Upright Carry-On Luggage on multiple trips, flying over 15,000 air miles from Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida to Alaska.  It was thrown around by airport luggage handlers, rained on, sat on, rolled over snow, ice and even sand. Mother Nature couldn’t break it and I doubt I will either!

Drago Hiker Shoulder Pack Review

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

One of the things I like to take my time with when getting ready for a hike or an overnight in the woods is gear selection. Most of the time, I try to go as light as possible and use my brain to come up with solutions that may have otherwise been easy to accomplish with a specific piece of gear. I have always felt that this is an important way to open your mind and push yourself towards being more self-reliant.

Venture Tech Sheath Systems P.A.C.K One

Reviews - Packs, Bags & Pouches

If you've ever fallen into the trap of searching for the "perfect pack," you know how Goldilocks felt, with the exception that one doesn't always find one that's "juuuust right." I've gone through a lot of packs in my own search for the perfect day pack and have found that there are many which are too heavy, too small, have too many pockets, not enough pockets, the wrong color, too much webbing or a ridiculous number of features which even the manufacturer could not explain. I didn't mention "too expensive" but that pitfall accompanies many packs and the ones you might be able to get the manufacturer to build to suit your preferences may not suit your budget.
