Wolverine Espen V-Frame Velocity Boots

Reviews - Footwear

Quality footwear is an essential part any outdoor pursuit, especially hunting.   Hunting boots need to keep your feet warm, dry, and comfortable.  They also need to provide traction and support while walking over rough terrain.  The Espen V-Frame Velocity series boot by Wolverine served me well during this past archery season in western Pennsylvania.

Olukai Maliko Shoes

Reviews - Footwear

Are those camel toes on your feet? That was the first question that I got, while testing out the new Olukai Maliko barefoot style crossover shoe. Lots of companies have produced this so-called crossover shoe, a comfortable shoe that works well in the water or on land. The soles are separated near the toes to allow for maximum dexterity.

Wolverine Fulcrum ICS Off-Road Hiker

Reviews - Footwear

Footwear is a highly personal item and, in my opinion, the single most important article of clothing a person must select and put to use. Sound familiar?. If so, that's because it's exactly what I said the last time I tried out a new pair of boots - and I still stand by that idea, but no one pair of boots is going to be ideal for every set of conditions. As the season, terrain or mission changes, so the demands you put on your dogs.

Vasque Breeze GTX 7466 Hiking Boots

Reviews - Footwear

I’ve always had a hard time finding shoes and boots that fit right. Anybody who’s read my past reviews knows that. Well, to add to my woes I recently found out that your feet can still grow, or at least change as you get older. Who knew? At a recent visit to a shoe store with my kids I had my size checked just to see. I thought my feet had gotten wider over the years increasing the difficulty of my shoe search; ends up they got longer! I went from a 10.5 Wide which I’d worn for about 20 years to an 11 Wide. It turns up that extra half in inch made all the difference in the world in fit.

Altama Hoplite Boot Review

Reviews - Footwear

They say wisdom comes with age. I‘m not sure who “they” are, but I have to question their logic. Rather than getting smarter with age, I think we are just more willing to admit our ignorance. If you want to impress someone, don’t tell them what you think. Ask for their opinion.

Altama Mountain Panamoc

Reviews - Footwear

IMG_2380cAsk anyone who has spent some time in the service in the past 40 years and chances are they've had a pair Altama boots on their feet at one time or another.  My first set of Jungle boots that I picked up back in 1988 at Ft. McClellan, Alabama were Altamas and I ended up putting many, many miles under those boots both in the service and in the woods hunting and camping.  I still have them in fact, although they're looking a little rough these days!
