Adventures in East Africa, Volume 3: The Hunt

Destinations & Events

I love hunting. In Missouri I hit every season for white tail deer. I can’t get enough of it; I guess it’s in my blood. I’ve been hunting ever since I can remember. One thing that I have always been fascinated with was the idea of an African Safari hunt. When I was younger I read stories about Teddy Roosevelt and his big game hunts through East Africa. There is just something mystical about it, man/woman going and doing something so primeval and basic.

Journeys in East Africa: Episode 2 “The Gear I Brought”

Adventures in East Africa

When I think about gear planning my mind immediately goes to small weekend camping trips or day hikes. I remember some of the fondest memories growing up were with my father when we would go camping. I remember loading up the truck with gear and heading out to the wilderness. I love gear, I’m sort of a gear nut and any of my friends, including my wife would more than agree. Does this mean I know everything about gear? Nope, not even close. My motto is I want something that will work and work for a long time.

Journeys in East Africa: Episode 1

Adventures in East Africa

When you think of Africa, especially East Africa many things come to mind. Some people think of Safaris, others the rich history which includes British occupation not long ago. Some think of Teddy Roosevelt and his hunting trips. My whole life I’ve dreamed of Africa. I grew up just like a normal kid, watching Indiana Jones and movies like that, reading “How I found Livingston” a book about David Livingston. Needless to say, my fascination with this continent started early.
